I’ve always been a fan of milk, whether it’s with cereal, coffee, or protein powder. But I never thought of it as a “performance drink” for gamers until I heard about the “Gonna Need Milk” campaign by MilkPEP. This campaign, which promotes milk as the go-to drink for gamers, has led to the creation of a women’s Fortnite tournament called “The Milk Cup,” sponsored by America’s milk producers.

The Milk Cup has a total prize pool of $250,000, making it the largest women’s esports prize pool in North America. The tournament is designed to empower and celebrate female gamers while addressing the pay disparity in professional gaming. The final of three qualifying rounds has just been completed, with 33 teams now set to compete in a LAN championship event this fall.

The tournament is being produced by Radiant in partnership with the Women of the eRena series, with esports competitor and streamer ThePeachCobbler providing advice. The first-place trio at the championship event will walk away with $75,000, a significant prize for female gamers in the esports industry.

It’s interesting to note that this isn’t the first time a sporting event has been called the “Milk Cup.” Past football competitions have also taken this name due to dairy sponsorships. However, this Fortnite tournament is currently the only event continuing the “Milk Cup” tradition.
