So, like, the new Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out soon, and it’s got this cool feature called GameChat. Basically, you can talk to your friends or enemies while playing games, which is kinda neat, I guess. But here’s the catch – you gotta register your phone number to use it. Not really sure why this matters, but hey, that’s what Nintendo wants.

The GameChat feature will be free for Switch 2 users until 31st March 2026, but after that, you’ll need a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Oh, and don’t forget to register your phone number with a Nintendo account if you wanna keep using it. Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through just to chat while gaming, but hey, that’s technology for you.

On the bright side, GameChat will have text-to-speech and live captions, so that’s kinda cool. And Nintendo will be recording video and voice chats for safety reasons, which is a bit creepy if you ask me. But hey, at least they’re trying to make the online environment safer for everyone. The Switch 2 is dropping on 5th June worldwide, so get ready to chat it up with your pals while gaming.
