S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, the highly anticipated post-apocalyptic shooter, has unfortunately been delayed once again. Originally scheduled for release on September 5, the game will now be launching on November 20. This decision was made by developer GSC Game World in order to address technical issues and ensure a smoother gameplay experience for fans.
In addition to the delay, GSC Game World has announced that they will be releasing their first-ever Developer Deep Dive video. This video will provide players with an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the game, featuring new gameplay footage, detailed overviews of the world and locations, a full walkthrough of a story quest, and interviews with the developers. The video, created in collaboration with Xbox, is set to premiere on August 12.
The road to the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl has been a rocky one. Initially unveiled in 2020 after years of anticipation, the game has faced various setbacks including backlash over now-canceled plans for NFT implementation. The development process was further complicated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, where the studio is based, leading to the relocation of the team to Prague, Czech Republic. Despite these challenges, the team has persevered and the game was even showcased during Summer Game Fest earlier this year.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is set to launch on November 20 for Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. While the delay may be disappointing for eager fans, it does provide an opportunity for players to revisit the original games, which were re-released on Xbox earlier this year. This extra time allows for a deeper dive into the world of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and a chance to fully immerse oneself in the post-apocalyptic setting before the release of the highly anticipated sequel.
