Far Cry 4, a game that’s been around for like, forever (well, over a decade, really), is getting a fresh update from Ubisoft. It first came out in November 2014, and now it’s getting a makeover for the PlayStation 5. Finally catching up to the Xbox Series X/S, which got the 60fps treatment in 2021.
The latest update for Far Cry 4 on the PlayStation 5 is pretty straightforward. Version 1.08 is all about that sweet 60 FPS support on the PS5 console. Short and sweet, just the way we like it.
Ubisoft isn’t new to giving their games a little facelift like this. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey got the 60fps treatment on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last year, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate got the same treatment in November. Fans are crossing their fingers that more Far Cry games will get the 60fps boost too. Some are even willing to sell their soul to Ubisoft for a smoother experience in Far Cry 3 (and maybe fix some controller issues while they’re at it). I mean, that’s dedication right there.
Eurogamer’s original Far Cry 4 review said, “Far Cry 4 does all the things that its predecessor did and more – more weapons, more vehicles, more modes, more ground to cover – so if all you’re looking for is a big old wide open space to tear up with a friend, go forth and make merry with mortar.” Sounds like a good time, right? It’s like a backpacker’s dream, not exactly a five-star resort, but still worth checking out.
So, if you’re a fan of Far Cry 4 and have a PS5, get ready to experience the game in all its 60fps glory. Who knows, maybe this update will inspire Ubisoft to give more of their older games a little refresh. Time will tell, but for now, let’s just enjoy the smoother gameplay and explore the Rook Islands once again. Cheers to Ubisoft for keeping the classics alive and kicking.
