Sony is bringing back them nostalgia-laced classic PlayStation console backgrounds for PS5 this week, and it’s a pretty exciting time for fans. Not really sure why this matters, but let’s roll with it.
If you cast your mind back to December, you might remember Sony rolling out a console update for the PS5, adding a range of custom sounds and startup options to make the console experience more like the old PlayStation consoles. It was a limited-time thing, meant to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, but guess what? They’re back due to popular demand!
So, if you’re feeling a bit nostalgic and want to jazz up your PS5 home screen with an original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, or PlayStation 4 look, you’re in luck. Just head to the PS5’s Settings menu, select Appearance, choose your background era, and Bob’s your uncle. Easy peasy!
But wait, there’s more! The PS5 system update will also include a new feature called Audio Focus, which aims to enhance immersion by amplifying soft sounds according to your hearing preferences. Seems like Sony is really stepping up their game to provide a clear audio experience for users with headphones or headsets.
In addition to the background customizations and Audio Focus feature, Sony will be rolling out this PS5 system update globally in phases starting tomorrow, 24th April. So, get ready to level up your gaming experience with these cool new features.
Oh, and by the way, Sony and Sucker Punch just announced the release date of Ghost of Yōtei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. It’s set to launch this October on PS5, so mark your calendars and get ready for some epic gameplay. Exciting times ahead for PlayStation fans!
