As fans try to come to terms with the delay of GTA 6 – from making countdowns “that are cheaper than therapy” to begging everyone to “calm ourselves” – there is at least one person who is actually happy about the news: Luke Dale, the actor from Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
Dale, famous for playing Hans Capon in the game, shared his optimistic view on the delay on X/Twitter, saying, “WE’RE IN WITH A SHOT! GOTY!” and adding the hashtag #KCD2.
So, while gamers have been eagerly awaiting the next installment of the highly-praised series, it seems that not everyone is upset about the delay. Take-Two Interactive boss Strauss Zelnick even mentioned that the excitement for GTA 6 is “the greatest anticipation [he’s] ever seen for an entertainment property.” This has left developers and publishers of other games aiming for a similar release window feeling a bit anxious about potentially competing with GTA 6’s launch. Randy Pitchford from Gearbox was quick to deny any connection between the release date of Borderlands 4 and GTA 6, which turned out to be true.
Luke Dale is not the only one in the gaming industry who let out a sigh of relief yesterday – he just happened to do it in public. The positive side now is that games that have already come out in 2025 – and those that were waiting to finalize release dates until GTA 6’s launch was confirmed – can now feel more confident about potentially winning awards or making it onto the best games of 2025 lists.
We rated Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 three out of five stars, stating, “This stunning medieval RPG remains as divisive, prickly, and abrasive as its predecessor.”
After a successful launch where over 1 million copies of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 were sold in just 24 hours, Warhorse Studios, the developer, has been busy working on its post-release plan. Recently, they added mod support, a barber shop, and “over a thousand” fixes and enhancements.
Yesterday, Rockstar made the announcement that GTA 6 will be delayed until 2026. The highly-anticipated sequel will now be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 26, 2026. Rockstar’s decision to delay the game comes after months of speculation about whether it would still make its 2025 launch window, despite assurances from Take-Two that everything was on track.
Rockstar did not provide any additional details at this time. The first – and only – glimpse of GTA 6 was released by Rockstar in December 2023.
So, there you have it – not really sure why this matters, but the delay of GTA 6 has definitely caused a stir in the gaming community. Let’s see how this all plays out in the end.
