Fortnite, the popular online multiplayer game, has made a triumphant return to iOS devices in the US and Europe after a long and arduous legal battle between Epic Games and Apple. The clash between the two tech giants spanned five years, with Epic initially offering a “peace proposal” at the beginning of the month. However, Apple later blocked the return of Fortnite in the US, causing further complications in the ongoing dispute.

The situation took a turn when Epic returned to the judge overseeing the legal case to review its submission for Fortnite. The judge made it clear that Apple had the capability to resolve the issue without the need for additional briefings or a hearing. The judge also issued a warning, stating that the official responsible for ensuring compliance would have to appear for a hearing if necessary. Despite these challenges, the two companies eventually filed a joint notice indicating that they had “resolved all issues”.

Now, Fortnite has once again become available on iOS devices, much to the delight of fans. Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney expressed his excitement on social media, declaring “we back fam”. While the game had already returned to iOS devices in the European Union, Apple’s actions led to a delay in a regular game update in the US, resulting in all versions being taken down temporarily. Unfortunately, players in the UK will have to wait a bit longer as Fortnite is not yet available on iOS devices there. The release is expected in the second half of the year.
