So, like, PlayStation just dropped some major Borderlands 4 news this week, and it looks like the game is coming out sooner than we thought. And nope, it’s not because of GTA 6, in case you were wondering. The release date is now set for 12th September, thanks to Gearbox sharing more deets in a new showcase on PlayStation.
The showcase was about 20 minutes long, and Gearbox really went all out to give us a deep dive into Borderlands 4. They introduced two new Vault Hunters, showed off some sick new weapons, talked about new ways to get around, and even teased a brand-new planet. Creative director Graeme Timmins even went as far as to say this is gonna be “our best Borderlands ever”. High praise, my friends.
Apparently, Borderlands 4 is going back to its roots and getting more “grounded”, according to Randy Pitchford, the big boss at Gearbox. The game features four new Vault Hunters, but the spotlight was on Vex the Siren and Rafa the Exo-Soldier during the showcase. Vex can do some cool supernatural stuff with phase energy and summon minions, while Rafa is all about that experimental exo-suit life that can whip up a whole arsenal of weapons. Choices, choices.
In a blog post on PlayStation, Gearbox mentioned that players can pick from three signature abilities for their Vault Hunters. They also talked about class Traits, special arguments (not really sure what those are), capstone abilities, and three upgrade paths for passive skills. It’s gonna be a wild ride, for sure.
Oh, and let’s not forget about the new movement abilities in Borderlands 4. Gliding, dashing, double-jumping, and point-grappling are all on the menu as you explore the Kairos, the shiny new planet where all the action takes place. You’ll run into some familiar faces like Claptrap, Moxxi, and Zane, and you even get your own Digirunner vehicle to speed around in style. Who needs fast travel when you’ve got wheels, right?
If you’re not into the whole 20-minute deep dive thing, there’s a gameplay video out there for you to check out. Just hit up YouTube and get a taste of what Borderlands 4 has to offer. But if you’re into all the nitty-gritty details, Gearbox’s showcase and blog post have got you covered. And hey, remember, the game drops on 12th September for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. And just so you know, it’s not because Take-Two wanted to push it out early to make way for GTA 6. Nope, Gearbox is just really confident in the game’s development. 100 percent.
So get ready for some epic looty shooter action with Borderlands 4. It’s gonna be a wild ride, that’s for sure. And who knows, maybe this will be the best Borderlands yet. Time to gear up and get ready for some mayhem.
