So, like, EA decided to lay off more peeps, right? After already letting go of 670 employees last year, they just cut another 300 jobs. And get this – they even cancelled a new Titanfall game! Can you believe it?
According to Bloomberg, around 100 of those jobs were taken from Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi. EA was all like, “Oh, we’re just making some changes to align our teams and stuff.” Real smooth, guys.
Respawn was like, “Yeah, we had to make some adjustments to our teams too. It sucks, but we gotta do what we gotta do.” They even scrapped two projects in the early stages. One of them was a Titanfall shooter codenamed R7. Seems like EA can’t keep their Titanfall projects together, huh?
But hey, Respawn is still trying to focus on giving players a great experience. They’re all about making Apex Legends bigger and better. They’re also working on the next Star Wars Jedi game, aiming to blow everyone’s minds with the storytelling and gameplay.
Despite all the layoffs, EA’s big bosses still managed to rake in $60m in 2024. And the CEO, Andrew Wilson, pocketed $25.6m of that! Talk about priorities, am I right?
Since March 2023, EA has shown the door to more than 1800 employees. But hey, who’s counting? It’s not like they’re keeping track or anything. But seriously, it’s a tough time for everyone involved. Let’s hope things start looking up soon.
