Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, the updated version of the popular 2010 game Epic Mickey, now has a confirmed release date. Fans can expect to get their hands on it starting September 24th.

The announcement of this remake first came during a Nintendo Partner Direct in February. Purple Lamp Studios is in charge of developing the game, and they have made significant changes to the gameplay to enhance the overall experience. Unlike the original version that utilized Wii motion controls, Rebrushed will feature new brush abilities for Mickey along with improved graphics. A recent trailer even included an interview with Warren Spector, the original creative director of the game, who is also involved in this remake. He introduced the Collector’s Edition of Rebrushed during the video.

For those willing to splurge, the Collector’s Edition is currently available for pre-order at $199.99. This special package includes exciting items such as the full game of Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, a 28 cm Mickey Mouse statue, an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit keychain, a vintage Mickey Mouse tin sign, six postcards featuring Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, a Collector’s Steelbook, and the Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed costume pack.

In case you missed out on the original game, here’s a quick recap. The storyline follows Mickey as he journeys through a magical world named the Wasteland, where he encounters various lesser-known Disney characters, including the main antagonist Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The Wasteland is under threat from an evil force known as the Blot, which Mickey mistakenly sets free and must now defeat. Throughout the 3D action platformer, players control Mickey as he wields a magical paintbrush that can create or erase objects, ultimately shaping both his fate and the game’s narrative.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will be accessible on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. If you want to dive deeper into the world of Epic Mickey, you can check out our review of the original game here.
