Greater Rifts were a big deal in Diablo III’s endgame, and Diablo IV has its own version called The Pit Of The Artificer. This dungeon has seen some changes and updates in recent months, so if you’re looking to dive into the endgame content, here’s what you need to know about unlocking and navigating these challenging dungeons.

The Pit Of The Artificer is a repeatable dungeon located in Cerrigar, Scosglen. To access it, head northwest of the Cerrigar Waypoint until you reach the Artificer’s Obelisk (Portal Activator). This is the entrance to the dungeon, so remember its location.

Unlike other timed dungeons like The Kurast Undercity, The Pit Of The Artificer features a gauge on the right side of the screen with an hourglass marker slowly progressing from left to right. A white triangle marker on the gauge represents your progress, filling up as you defeat enemies. Once you’ve filled the gauge completely, the portal to the final boss will appear. You must defeat the boss before the hourglass runs out to win, with faster completions yielding better rewards.

Completing runs with time to spare will unlock higher difficulties of The Pit Of The Artificer, ranging from Torment 1 to 4. However, dying in the dungeon incurs a time penalty, which increases with each death. To maximize rewards, aim to complete runs quickly without dying.

To unlock The Pit Of The Artificer, you only need to reach Level 60. Additionally, you’ll need Artificer’s Stones x3 to create a portal to the dungeon each time you want to run it. These stones can be obtained from various activities such as Tortured Gifts in Helltide, Cache Rewards from The Tree of Whispers, Legion Events, World Bosses, Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and the Undercity of Kurast.

Running these activities and then completing runs of The Pit Of The Artificer is a rewarding way to gain Paragon Levels and acquire new Legendary items. While you’ll find great gear in the dungeon, the primary focus is on powering up the Glyphs used on your Paragon Boards. Completing a run grants five Glyph levels that can be allocated to any unlocked Glyph on your board for increased benefits.

You can check your Artificer’s Stones by accessing the Artificer’s Obelisk in Cerrigar or by opening your Character sheet and navigating to the Stats & Materials tab. Make sure you have three Artificer’s Stones before heading to the dungeon.

With this information in hand, you’re ready to tackle The Pit Of The Artificer and strengthen your character. As you grow stronger, you can unlock higher Torment difficulties through this activity. Good luck on your dungeon runs and may your Glyphs be powerful!
