Blizzard’s action RPG, Diablo IV, launched its fifth season, introducing a new horde mode and a variety of tweaks, gear, and weapons. However, a glitch involving the Umbracrux dagger caused players to gain excessive levels in a short amount of time. Some players were able to jump from level 29 to level 63 in just one second after killing a stronghold boss. Initially, the cause of this bug was unknown, but Blizzard quickly addressed the issue.

Diablo’s global community development director, Adam Fletcher, explained on the official forums that the problem stemmed from players using the Umbracrux dagger to gain an excessive amount of experience when killing certain bosses. As a temporary solution, Blizzard disabled the unique power of the dagger, which allowed players to spawn shade totems. Although players can still find and equip the dagger, its unique ability is currently deactivated until a permanent fix is implemented.

While the leveling glitch may no longer be available, players can still take advantage of other bugs, such as the one involving tempering recipes from the previous season. This allows players to continue progressing and earning loot through traditional gameplay methods. As Blizzard works on resolving the Umbracrux dagger issue, players are encouraged to enjoy the game in its intended form and await further updates from the development team.
