Doom: The Dark Ages took the narrative up a notch and introduced semi open-world areas for players to explore at their own pace. In the ninth mission, “Ancestral Forge,” players encounter the second of these open-world segments after completing “The Siege Part One.” Throughout the game, players will encounter Sorcerer and Knight statues holding jewel collectibles. Sorcerer statues contain Wraithstones, while Knight statues hold Rubies. To unlock these collectibles, players must find and destroy three wolf statues scattered throughout the open-world mission using their shield.
Finding the Sorcerer statue:
In “Ancestral Forge,” players will come across three wolf statues. The locations of these statues are more spread out and require extra effort to reach. Upon entering the open-world area, head towards the right of the Sentinel Shrine and past the first Ancestral Heart to find the Sorcerer statue holding a Wraithstone.
First Wolf Statue:
The first wolf statue is located above the area where the Sorcerer statue is found. Players will encounter enemies in this area, so make sure to defeat them before throwing your shield at the first wolf statue.
Second Wolf Statue:
To locate the second wolf statue, players will need to obtain the Pink Key. The mission marker will lead players to the first Ancestral Heart, where they can clear out enemies and backtrack to find the Pink Key. Once in possession of the Pink Key, unlock a gate at the beginning of the level and locate the second wolf statue inside.
Third Wolf Statue:
The third wolf statue is situated near the second Ancestral Heart, on the opposite side of the level. Defeat the enemies in the area to remove the barrier around the wolf statue, allowing players to throw their shield and destroy it.
Grabbing the jewel:
After destroying all three wolf statues, the barrier around the Sorcerer statue will disappear, allowing players to interact with it and collect the Wraithstone. This valuable item can be used to upgrade weapons, shield, and melee capabilities in the game.
