So, like, we still don’t know much about the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel that CD Projekt Red is supposedly working on. The new game, codenamed “Orion,” is currently in development after the studio finished up with the original game last year. But, you know, they’re keeping most of the juicy details under wraps. All we really have are some vague quotes about the vibe they’re going for, you know? However, Mike Pondsmith, the dude who created the Cyberpunk tabletop roleplaying game way back in 1988, dropped a bombshell recently. He spilled the beans that, along with revisiting Night City, the sequel will also take us to another city.

What’s the deal with this new city, you ask? Well, Pondsmith chatted with a Polish gaming channel called tvgry at the Digital Dragons Conference in Poland. He spilled some tea about how “Orion” will partly be set in Night City, but also in this other city that he described as “more like Chicago gone wrong.” He had some convos with the CD Projekt Red team, and even though he’s not as hands-on with this game as he was with 2077, he’s still dropping hints left and right. Pondsmith mentioned that there’s another city we’ll be exploring, but he’s keeping tight-lipped about the deets. All he said was that it feels more like Chicago gone haywire, rather than the classic Blade Runner vibes of Night City. So, yeah, it’s gonna be interesting to see how this new location fits into the whole Cyberpunk universe, right?

I’m really curious about how different this new city will be from good ol’ Night City. I mean, exploring a completely new map in an open-world game can be pretty exciting, don’t you think? Night City was such a well-crafted setting in 2077, so it’s gonna be cool to see how they expand on that world. Plus, I’m wondering if they’ll throw in some kind of nod to V, the merc from the first game. I don’t need a full-on appearance from the guy, but a little easter egg or reference would be pretty sweet. Maybe a drink at the Afterlife bar that’s a shoutout to his epic heist at the end of the game. Who knows, man? The possibilities are endless in the world of Cyberpunk.
