Physical games still super important to Nintendo players, yo! So, like, CD Projekt peeps are saying don’t overlook this fact, man. They’re getting ready to drop Cyberpunk 2077 on the Switch 2, and guess what? They’re gonna have an actual game cartridge with the game on it. Wild, right? Not like those other studios using ‘key cards’ that make you download the game from the Nintendo eShop. CD Projekt ain’t about that life, they learned their lesson from dropping The Witcher 3 on the original Switch.

According to CD Projekt’s VP of business development Jan Rosner, having Cyberpunk 2077 on a cartridge for Switch 2 is the move. He said it was the right call since the original Switch had low internal storage, and a game like The Witcher 3 would eat up most of it without an external memory card. People dig that “plug and play experience,” especially Nintendo players, so having a physical cartridge was a goal from the get-go. Rosner even added that physical retail ain’t going anywhere, man. He’s like, “We can’t just go all digital, not cool.”

Rosner dropped some knowledge for other studios too, telling them not to sleep on physical editions. He thinks Nintendo players love ’em when they’re done right. And yo, he believes there’s gonna be more third-party games on the Switch 2 that we wouldn’t expect. Like, who knew Hazelight’s Split Fiction would be a launch title, right? Plus, Elden Ring, Hollow Knight: Silksong, James Bond game, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade are also in the mix. But like, they won’t be there right when the console drops, ya feel?

Now, the big question: will we see The Witcher 3 on Switch 2? CD Projekt ain’t spillin’ the tea on that yet. They’re all about Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for now. But, they’ve had a good relationship with Nintendo since The Witcher 3 on the original Switch. Filip Downar, CD Projekt’s gameplay technical design expert, said they were stoked to work with Nintendo again on the Switch 2, man.

So, like, with all these games coming to the Switch 2, it’s gonna be lit. Nintendo players are gonna have a blast with all these options. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the Switch 2 is gonna be a game-changer. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for us gamers, yo!
