Rebellion, the studio behind Sniper Elite, has revealed a new detailed gameplay trailer for their upcoming game, Atomfall. The game is set in 1962 in a fictional quarantine zone in the north of England, inspired by the Windscale fire incident in 1957. Players will explore the mysterious accident and uncover the truth behind it.
The trailer introduces various factions in the game, including Protocol, a military response team, and the British Atomic Research Division (B.A.R.D), conducting experiments in nuclear bunkers. Primitive cults and wicker men also play a role in the storyline. Gameplay involves first-person combat, stealth, crafting, and battles against mechs and zombie-like creatures, reminiscent of Fallout but with a unique British touch.
Having played Atomfall at Gamescom, I found the game to be full of British charm, from the countryside setting to the quirky dialogue options. The trailer showcases the diverse gameplay elements and environments players can expect to encounter. It will be available on current and last-gen consoles, as well as PC and Xbox Game Pass on release day.
While Fallout may not be officially set in the UK, the success of the Fallout: London mod demonstrates the interest in British-themed post-apocalyptic games. Atomfall offers a fresh take on the genre with its unique setting and storyline. Will you be diving into the world of Atomfall and uncovering its secrets?
