Amazon has announced that the third generation of the Echo Show 5 will be launching in Australia next month. The new version of the smart display features a 5.5″ display with a resolution of 960 x 480, making it the smallest Alexa-powered Echo device yet. Despite its compact size, the Echo Show 5 still offers a range of features such as displaying news clips, checking Ring doorbell cameras, viewing shopping lists, following recipes, and making video calls.

One of the key upgrades in the third generation Echo Show 5 is the new AZ2 Neutral Edge processor, which improves the device’s microphone array for better voice recognition and includes an enhanced speaker system for clearer audio quality. Additionally, the Echo Show 5 now includes a Matter controller for smart home owners, allowing for seamless connectivity with Matter-enabled devices.

Amazon has prioritized privacy in the design of the Echo Show 5, offering multiple layers of protection for users. The device includes a manual mic and camera shutter that can be physically disabled, as well as the option to delete voice recordings for added peace of mind.

The Echo Show 5 comes in three color options – White, Black, and Cloud Blue, all of which are environmentally friendly. The device is made using 100% post-consumer recycled polyester yarn and 100% recycled aluminum for a more sustainable product. Additionally, the packaging is made from 99% wood fiber-based materials from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources.

For those interested in purchasing the Echo Show 5 gen 3, pre-orders are now available on Amazon.com.au/echoshow5. The device will be available in-store starting July 10th for $169.
