Silversea has recently taken delivery of their newest ship, the Silver Ray, with a special “shake-down and show-off” sailing between Portugal and Spain. The ship is set to be officially named in Lisbon on 12JUN, although the Godmother has not yet been announced.
The President of Silversea, Bert Hernandez, has been actively involved in the launch of the Silver Ray, showcasing his young, forthright, and focused approach to leading the cruise line. The ship is said to be similar to its predecessor, the Silver Nova, with some updated art and design elements that maintain its charm and beauty.
Some of the dining options on board have been refreshed, including menus at S.A.L.T. Kitchen and La Terrazza, and the addition of a plant-forward menu at La Dame by two-star Michelin Chef Jean-Luc Rabanel. Public spaces on the ship are designed to be creative, appealing, and inviting, creating a luxurious and comfortable atmosphere for guests.
The Silver Ray features an innovative design with asymmetrical, horizontal themes that provide openness and a connection to the outdoors. The ship boasts panoramic sea views, airy spaces, and flexibility in design, offering guests a unique and luxurious experience.
Deck 10 of the ship is home to the S.A.L.T. Bar and S.A.L.T. Lab, where guests can enjoy cooking classes and a Chef’s Kitchen menu of regional dishes and cocktails. The Marquee offers a variety of dining options, including the Hot Rocks Grill and traditional pizzas, while the Dusk Bar provides a great spot for drinks with ocean views.
Traditional Silversea offerings, such as S.A.L.T. Kitchen, Kaiseki, and the Silver Note Supper Club, are still available on the Silver Ray, along with new additions like the Deck 3 Shelter Bar. The ship also features a range of suite accommodations, the OTIUM Spa and Fitness Centre, and sustainability features like battery and LNG capacity.
Overall, the Silver Ray promises to be a luxurious and innovative addition to the Silversea fleet, offering guests a unique and exciting cruising experience. President Bert Hernandez and his team have big plans for the ship in the coming months and years, ensuring that it continues to provide a top-notch experience for travelers.
