Warframe’s latest Techrot Encore update is set to shake things up once again, offering players a wild new experience filled with boy band battles, rainbow road racing, and even a Warframe equipped with a talking guitar. Developer Digital Extremes has been pushing the boundaries of the game’s narrative and gameplay, and this update is no exception, set to launch on 19th March.
The centerpiece of the Techrot Encore update is the Technocyte Coda, a corrupted version of the in-game boy band On-lyne, featuring members like Harddrive, Zeke, and DJ RoM. These boy band foes will randomly appear in levels until players can defeat them, introducing an adversary system akin to Warframe’s Kuva Lich and Sisters of Parvos. To face off against the Technocyte Coda, players must complete The Hex quest first and cannot have a Lich or Sister tied to them. Additionally, players will have a growing pimple until they can defeat their boy band adversaries.
Expanding on the 1999 update, Techrot Encore introduces four new Protoframes in the revamped Höllvania Mall, now featuring the grungy The Round Table pub where players can interact with characters like Velimir, Minerva, and Kaya Velasco. Notably, the update includes Flare, a David Bowie-inspired Protoframe and the 60th Warframe, equipped with a talking guitar named Lizzy. Players can engage with these characters in the mall and delve into their backstories through conversations using the 1999’s AOL-inspired KIN system.
Kaya serves as the entry point for challenging Temporal Archimedea missions in the Techrot Encore update, offering various rewards and a sticker-inspired boost system for advantages in the field. Flare’s Stage Defence missions take players to Solstice Square to protect Temple, the guitar-wielding Warframe, from incoming foes across three waves. Completing a Stage Defence mission rewards players with Techrot Heartstrings, which can be exchanged for Temple’s blueprints if not received as a mission reward. Temple’s abilities center around music, with attack boosts tied to the beat, offering a unique gameplay experience.
Beyond the story elements, Techrot Encore introduces a Rainbow Road-inspired bike-racing arcade game called Ollie’s Crash Course and new Ollie-themed cosmetics, including an Ollie floof. The update also includes a range of adjustments and quality of life improvements, such as Warframe augments for various frames and a Pseudo Exalted Rework for select characters. Players can look forward to a shortened Star Chart path, easier Archwing crafting, and enhanced replayability for quests like The Duviri Paradox and The Hex Quest. Notably, players can finally revisit Fortuna’s iconic We All Lift Together cinematic.
This expansive and free Techrot Encore update will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC starting 19th March, promising an array of exciting new features and content for Warframe enthusiasts to enjoy.
