The highly anticipated Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to be released in September, and Larian Studios has provided a detailed update on what players can expect. In addition to the patch, the studio is offering a closed beta test starting on July 22. One of the key features of the upcoming patch is the introduction of better endings for evil playthroughs and full mod support. Players can also look forward to a new “dynamic split screen” mode for co-op play, allowing screens to merge when characters are close together.

Several improvements are being made to individual NPCs, party banter, and gameplay mechanics. Dark Urge bugs will be fixed, Honor Mode will be made more challenging with additional Legendary Actions for creatures, and a new spell called Arachnid Compulsion will be added. Additionally, facial animations during kissing cinematics have been enhanced, catering to the desires of the game’s audience.

The highlight of Patch 7 is the modding toolkit, which has been in a closed alpha test phase. Testers have provided positive feedback on the progress, with Larian showcasing some of the work done. To ensure the patch is stable and bug-free, a closed beta test is being conducted, with applications now open on the Steam page. Access will be granted to randomly selected registered players, with around 1,000 testers expected to participate.

It’s important to note that Patch 7 is not the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3. Larian Studios has hinted at future features like crossplay and a photo mode, along with various gameplay tweaks, quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and performance optimizations in the works.
