Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown has announced that players will be compensated for the rocky launch experienced in September. Developer KT Racing acknowledged the technical and server difficulties that led to customer dissatisfaction and will be offering in-game items to make up for it.
Players who played Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown before the first major patch on September 30th will receive two unique items in their inventories. These items will be available around the launch of Season 2 after December 18th. The first item is a custom-built Adventurer edition of the 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, specially equipped for off-road driving on the island. Additionally, players will receive a pack of five stickers to customize their cars.
In addition to the compensation items, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is gearing up for a second major patch scheduled for November 5th. This update will focus on graphical enhancements for PS5, optimizations for Xbox Series X/S and PC, network upgrades, improved peripheral compatibility, and bug fixes. Despite the upcoming improvements, the game is still rated Mostly Negative on Steam.
Eurogamer contributor Mike Channell highlighted the technical issues of Solar Crown in his review, giving the game a two-star rating out of five. He expressed hope that the game can overcome its technical problems and that its recreation of Hong Kong Island will appeal to fans of the genre and virtual travelers.
