Pokémon Gold and Silver are celebrating their 25th anniversary this month. These Game Boy Color RPGs took fans to the Johto region and introduced 100 new monsters, becoming some of the most beloved games in the Pokémon franchise. To mark this special occasion, The Pokémon Company is launching a new line of merchandise featuring characters and artwork from the games.

Some of the merchandise is game-neutral, while other items are designed to represent either Gold or Silver versions. Highlights of the collection include plush toys of the game mascots Ho-Oh and Lugia, jackets featuring a reversible design of the Johto region map, and a trash can with a message from the game printed on it.

Currently, the merchandise is only available for purchase on the Japanese Pokémon Center website. However, these items are likely to appear on reseller or import sites shortly after the release on November 21st. Fans can preview all the merchandise that will be available next week by visiting the website.

Although the easiest way to play Gold and Silver nowadays is through the 3DS ports released in 2017, many fans are hoping that Nintendo will eventually make the original Pokémon games available on the Switch. The lack of attention to this matter by the company has been well-documented.

In addition to the 25th anniversary of Gold and Silver, this year also marks the 15th anniversary of the Nintendo DS remakes Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. These remakes, which were launched during the original games’ 10th anniversary in 2009, are still highly regarded by fans and are often considered the best mainline Pokémon games.

As fans celebrate the legacy of Pokémon Gold and Silver, the new merchandise collection serves as a reminder of the impact these games have had on the franchise over the past 25 years. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a newcomer to the series, there’s something special about these classic games that continues to captivate audiences of all ages.
