Jean-Luc Mélenchon said on Tuesday that he was ready to debate with Elisabeth Borne, wishing to meet the new Prime Minister “at least once before replacing her”, during a trip to Nantes.

The former candidate of rebellious France for the presidential election, who hopes to reach Matignon after the legislative elections of June 12 and 19, said he was ready to debate with Ms. Borne.

“I would like to meet her at least once before replacing her,” he added to the applause of around twenty activists.

He renewed his criticisms the day after the appointment of Elisabeth Borne at Matignon, a woman “so-called leftist” and “at the forefront of social and ecological brutality”.

Faced with a “highly predictable ecological disaster”, the President of the Republic “chosen to appoint Prime Minister a catechumen of neoliberalism”, denounced Mr. Mélenchon during a press conference.

Surrounded by six candidates in Loire-Atlantique from the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), born of the agreement between LFI, the PS, EELV and the PCF, Jean-Luc Mélenchon said he was “full of hope and very confident” about the outcome of the vote.

“Our chances of winning have never been so strong (…) The probability that we have a majority exists”, thundered the leader of the Insoumis.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon has also once again criticized the new political color chart of the Ministry of the Interior for the legislative elections, which does not take into account the Nupes in the registrations of candidates in the prefecture.

Denouncing “a system of permanent deception”, he threatened on Tuesday to file an appeal to the Council of State in summary proceedings so that the Nupes can be recognized during the filing of candidacies.
