The Communist Party has invested 50 candidates in the legislative elections of June 12 and 19, including its leader and ex-presidential candidate Fabien Roussel (North), after the agreement reached with the rebellious as part of the new alliance on the left .
After his 2.28% in the first round of the presidential election, Fabien Roussel, national secretary of the PCF and outgoing deputy, is aiming for re-election in the 20th district of the North, in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux.
Many outgoing are reinvested including the current president of the communist group in the Assembly André Chassaigne (Puy-de-Dôme), Elsa Faucillon (Hauts-de-Seine), Sébastien Jumel, Jean-Paul Lecoq and Hubert Wulfranc (Seine- Maritime), Stéphane Peu (Seine-Saint-Denis), Alain Bruneel (North) and Pierre Dharréville (Bouches-du-Rhône).
Former Minister of Sports Marie-George Buffet has decided to leave her place in the 4th district of Seine-Saint-Denis, where she will be substitute for Soumya Bourouaha.
“I have just celebrated my 73 years, it seems necessary and logical to me to hand over”, explains to AFP this figure of the PCF, presidential candidate in 2007.
Same configuration for the outgoing Jean-Paul Dufrègne, simple substitute in the Allier, in favor of Yannick Monnet.
Céline Malaisé, regional councilor for Ile-de-France, is running in the very difficult 12th district of Paris (7th and 15th arrondissements of Paris).
The agreement with LFI within the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) has caused some problems, particularly in the constituency of Vénissieux (Rhône), where the PCF hoped for the investiture of the communist mayor Michèle Picard.
But LFI has invested a new rebellious candidate Idir Boumertit, despite the withdrawal of journalist Taha Bouhafs, the subject of an internal investigation after accusations of sexual violence.
