At a meeting in Caen, Jean-Luc Mélenchon mocked Wednesday the “panic on board” which, according to him, seizes the macronie a few days before the legislative elections, justifying his remarks on the police who “kill” and his economic program “of rupture”.
It concluded, in front of the 2,000 people claimed by LFI, a public meeting where the candidates for the legislative elections of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes) in Calvados spoke, then the first secretary of the PS Olivier Faure.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon denounced the lack of debate for these elections, wanted according to him by Emmanuel Macron: “Their thing was general anesthesia, we did it differently. And the result: we are in the lead, so it there is panic on board”.
Several polls give the outgoing majority in the lead but without certainty of an absolute majority, under pressure from Nupes.
He considered that the controversies of which he was the subject were the symptom of the “panic”. In particular that on his remarks on the “police who kill” after the death of a young woman of 25 years on the occasion of a refusal to comply.
“I know not to say the police kill, but if I don’t say it they don’t talk about it. And they bleated in rhythm,” he reviled. “What crime deserves the death penalty reinstated? Hit and run?” he insisted.
“I told myself that it was my duty to say loud and clear what is good for the fatherland”, he added, recalling his proposals for reforming the police, to whom he wants to offer “reconciliation”. with the country.
Jean-Luc Mélenchon then mocked several remarks by macronists against Nupes. “Bruno Le Maire said that I was a Chavist Gaul, here I am Chavisto-Gaulo-leftist. Christian Estrosi said that Mélenchon must be put out of harm’s way… A small refusal to comply and it is done,” he quipped.
Immediately adding: “Well we refuse to comply, we will not obey Mr. Macron, and even if Macron does not want it, we are here”.
According to him, Emmanuel Macron seeks to hide that “he has planned the worst austerity cure, the opposite of us”. Because “our model is to give people enough to live on, everything is spent, so you have to produce, that’s work, payroll, taxes, and social security contributions”.
It provides for additional public spending of 250 billion and hopes to recover, “at the end of the cycle”, 267 billion in taxes, duties, contributions”. A program deemed unrealistic by Macronie.
