Kevin Feige, the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently opened up about how the popular show Star Trek: Picard influenced the upcoming Vision series on Disney+. While Feige didn’t dive into details about Marvel’s TV shows during Comic-Con, he has since shared more information about the highly anticipated Disney+ series.
The Vision series, a spin-off of WandaVision, has been a topic of speculation since late 2022. However, it wasn’t until Feige watched Star Trek: Picard that he was inspired to bring on the show’s talented creator to work on Vision. Terry Matalas, the showrunner for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, caught Feige’s attention with his exceptional work on the show, leading Feige to seek him out for Vision.
In a conversation with Inverse, Feige expressed his admiration for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, which provided a fitting conclusion for Patrick Stewart and the rest of the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast. Feige was so impressed by Matalas’ work on Picard that he was determined to collaborate with him on Vision. Feige remarked, “That’s how I got to know [Matalas]. It was from his amazing work on Picard Season 3. I said, ‘This is incredible. I don’t know how this exists. Let me find the person who made this.'”
Fans of Star Trek: Picard have been eagerly anticipating Matalas’ next project, with hopes that he would be involved in a new spin-off titled Star Trek: Legacy. Matalas has expressed interest in working on Legacy, both during and after Season 3. While Matalas’ involvement in Vision doesn’t rule out his participation in Legacy if Paramount+ moves forward with the show, it is clear that the Marvel series is a priority for him at the moment.
Disney+ is set to premiere Vision in 2026, much to the excitement of Marvel fans who are eager to see how Feige and Matalas bring the beloved character to life on the small screen. Feige’s endorsement of Matalas’ talent and the influence of Star Trek: Picard on Vision has generated considerable buzz surrounding the upcoming series.
