Recently, we teamed up with Discord to give players more ways to connect with their friends while gaming on the PS5 console. Since the introduction of Discord voice chat on PS5, players have used it over 290 million times to chat with friends while playing games.
Exciting news for PS5 players – now you can join Discord voice chat directly from your PS5 console. No need to use the Discord PC or mobile apps anymore to connect with your friends. Simply go to the Discord tab in Game Base within the PS5 Control Center, select the Discord server or DM group you want to join, and choose your preferred voice channel. You can see who is already in the channel and even get a notification on your PS5 console when someone calls you, making it easy to join the conversation instantly.
This update will make it easier for gamers to jump into Discord conversations quickly. The rollout will start in Japan/Asia and then move to Europe, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, and finally the Americas in the coming weeks. Make sure to update your console to the latest system software and link your PlayStation Network and Discord accounts to take advantage of this feature.
Additionally, starting next week, you’ll be able to share your PlayStation Network profile on any messaging or social app. Simply select “Share Profile” from the PlayStation App or PS5 console to generate a shareable link or QR code. When the recipient opens the link, they can add you as a friend on PlayStation Network.
