Nintendo has come up with a new gadget called Alarmo, which is essentially a $100 alarm clock that aims to help you wake up in the morning. This quirky device features an LCD screen that plays animations and offers an alarm mode that gently rouses you from your slumber. The built-in motion sensor allows you to snooze the alarm by simply moving your arm or turn it off completely by getting out of bed.
In addition to its basic functions, Alarmo also has a sleep monitoring feature that tracks your movements throughout the night. This information can give you insights into your sleep quality and help you make adjustments for a better night’s rest.
Pre-orders for Alarmo are now available for Switch Online subscribers, but the devices won’t be shipped out until early 2025. The clock will come pre-loaded with 35 scenes from popular games like Splatoon 3, Pikmin 4, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and more. Updates will be released later to include scenes from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
There are two main modes for Alarmo: “Steady Mode” and “Gentle Mode.” The former gradually increases the intensity of the alarm the longer you stay in bed, while the latter provides a more consistent level of sound to wake you up. For those who prefer a more traditional alarm clock experience, there are buttons available to manually control the device.
Nintendo’s website offers a preview of how Alarmo works, with characters appearing on the screen before the alarm goes off. The sounds will then start playing at the scheduled time, with characters like Peach encouraging you to wake up. However, if you continue to hit the snooze button, Bowser will eventually appear to remind you to get up and start your day.
Although many fans speculated that Alarmo could be a new peripheral for the rumored Switch 2 console, it is actually a standalone device. Despite its $100 price tag, Alarmo offers a unique and fun way to start your day and is more affordable than similar WiFi-enabled alarm clocks on the market. So, if you’re a Nintendo fan looking for a playful and interactive alarm clock, Alarmo might be worth considering.
