Modders for The Witcher 3 have been hard at work ever since developer CD Projekt Red released official tools just two months ago. One dedicated modder managed to recreate parts of the first game’s map using these new tools within a day of their release. And now, a new mod has brought a fully fleshed-out reputation system to the already expansive RPG, adding a feature that was supposedly removed from the original release.

The mod, called Reputation System and discovered by IGN, was created by Nexus Mods user FreakVlp and was shared on July 18. According to the mod’s description, Geralt’s actions and decisions will now impact his reputation in different regions, affecting various aspects of gameplay. Players starting a new playthrough with this mod will encounter five reputation levels that influence how the world perceives Geralt: Hated, Disliked, Neutral, Liked, and Respectable. Each level corresponds to a specific range on a 100-point scale. For instance, Neutral falls between 40 and 60 points. When Geralt enters a new region, his reputation will begin at the Neutral level, so players need not worry about instantly becoming a pariah. Completing Witcher contracts, winning races or fights, and making choices during main quests will all impact Geralt’s reputation. However, engaging in theft or violence in front of guards will result in a loss of reputation points.

This reputation system primarily affects players’ finances, with better reputation levels granting discounts at shops and higher selling prices for items. Conversely, if Geralt is unpopular in a region, players will face increased costs and lower selling prices. The mod claims to reintroduce this system that was allegedly removed by CD Projekt Red during the game’s development phase. Kotaku has reached out to the developer for confirmation or comment on this claim.

In addition to the reputation system, modders continue to enhance The Witcher 3 experience with various improvements and additions. These mods give players the opportunity to customize their gameplay and explore new possibilities within the game’s rich world. With the dedication and creativity of the modding community, the game continues to evolve and offer fresh experiences to both new and seasoned players alike.

Overall, the modding community’s passion for The Witcher 3 showcases the enduring appeal of this critically acclaimed RPG. As players continue to discover new ways to enhance and personalize their adventures in the game, the world of The Witcher remains vibrant and engaging, inviting players to delve deeper into its immersive storytelling and rich gameplay mechanics.
