Techland, the developer behind Dying Light 2, is making a shift in its work model. The majority of its staff, including those who work remotely, are being asked to come into the office on a full-time basis or opt for a hybrid work setup. The goal behind this decision is to strengthen connections among team members.

According to reports, employees are expected to come into the office for eight working days every two months. However, it has been mentioned that the current office space may not be sufficient to accommodate more than ten percent of the 500 employees. Approximately half of the developers have been working remotely until now.

While remote work will still be an option, Techland is moving towards transitioning most roles to either on-site work or a hybrid model. Employees living near the offices will be required to work from the office three days a week. For those working remotely from other countries, they will be encouraged to come into the office regularly to build stronger connections.

The company acknowledges that this is a significant change and is willing to accommodate individual requests for home office days as needed. The transition process has just begun, and Techland aims to make it as smooth as possible while providing support to all employees.

Last year, Techland announced a partnership with Tencent, which now holds a majority stake in the company. This collaboration is expected to help Techland realize its vision for games more efficiently. CEO Pawe? Marchewka expressed that Tencent is a valuable ally with experience in working with top gaming companies while allowing them to maintain their creative freedom and ownership of intellectual properties.

This move by Techland reflects a growing trend in the gaming industry where companies are reevaluating their work models to balance remote work flexibility with in-person collaboration. The shift to an office-based or hybrid work setup aims to enhance teamwork and communication among employees, ultimately benefiting the development process of highly anticipated games like Dying Light 2.
