The Girondins de Bordeaux will soon be fixed on their fate. The historic French football club, which was expected early next week before the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) to challenge its demotion to National, will finally be received on Thursday July 21, its president Gerard Lopez announced on Friday July 15. . This two-day delay should allow Bordeaux leaders to obtain a judgment of homologation from the Bordeaux commercial court, and not a simple order as when they appeared before the federal DNCG appeal committee on July 5.
They presented to the commercial court their new agreements reached with the creditors King Street and Fortress, together with additional documents. The agreements notably validate the sequestration by Gerard Lopez of 14 million euros and the reduction of the debt owed to King Street and Fortress, which goes from 53 to 13.5 million euros.
These two points had been raised by the DNCG and then by the Federal Appeal Commission to justify the administrative demotion of the club to National (3rd division). This homologation judgment, “which is enforceable” according to club lawyer Laurent Cottret and whose deliberation is expected on Tuesday, would record, if favorable, that “there is no cessation of payments, that the agreements ensure the sustainability of the club, and that these agreements concluded do not pose any prejudice to a third party”.
“We decided for the good of the club to facilitate the task of understanding the file,” said Gerard Lopez. “Our only demand is for justice to be done,” he implored. If the consultation scheduled for Thursday before the CNOSF is positive, the decision to maintain Bordeaux in L2 will have to be approved by the executive committee of the French Federation (FFF) which should be convened urgently.
And in the event that the Girondins do not obtain this green light, their last option will be to seize the administrative court. The L2 championship resumes on July 30.
