The secretary general of LR Aurélien Pradié criticized Elisabeth Borne on Friday for his “vagueness” on the possible individualization of the disabled adult allowance, an allocation without taking into account the income of the spouse, and asks him to launch the reform now.
“During the previous five-year term, the majority constantly opposed this measure. Today, the Prime Minister seems ready to adopt it. It’s a good thing but it’s still unclear. She seems to be sending it back after the conference on disability, that is to say within one to two years”, criticizes the deputy of Lot in an interview with Parisian.
On Wednesday, during her general policy statement, Elisabeth Borne “said that she wanted to move forward on the basis of the principle of deconjugalization but without saying things clearly,” said Aurélien Pradié.
“The LR group tabled on Tuesday July 5 a private bill (PPL) on the deconjugalization of the AAH, co-signed by 62 LR deputies. It is operational and can be implemented as soon as the purchasing power bill”, expected in the hemicycle on July 18, claims Aurélien Pradié.
“The government pretends to be in the co-construction, let’s see if it’s comedy or if it’s serious. I say to the Prime Minister: If your statements on the demaritalization of the AAH are not pure bullshit, follow our proposal next week, “asks this right-wing party executive.
The “deconjugalization” of the disabled adult allowance, i.e. calculating it without taking into account the income of the spouse, is demanded by many associations and all opposition groups, who criticize the “price of love” for disabled people who form a couple and lose all or part of their AAH.
It thus appears in the bill of “social emergency” carried by the left Nupes.
The government and the majority rejected the measure several times last year, but Emmanuel Macron had promised in April to “move” on the subject.
Created in 1975, the AAH is intended to compensate for the inability to work. With a maximum amount of 904 euros per month, it is paid on medical and social criteria. It now has more than 1.2 million beneficiaries, including 270,000 couples, for an annual expenditure of around 11 billion euros.
