The former chairman of the Senate Finance Committee is heard by the gendarmes of the Paris research section, in an open judicial investigation for “favoritism”, “corruption”, “illegal taking of interests” and “unlawful agreement” opened in November 2020.
Among the five other people in police custody is the boss of the company Paprec who, according to Le Parisien, won a contract in 2017 for the construction of a waste sorting center for an amount estimated at 36 million euros. euros.
The financial prosecutor’s office confirmed to AFP the placement in police custody of Mr. Marini as well as five other people, “including the president of the Paprec group in the context of a judicial investigation targeting the practices of the Paprec group”.
In this same investigation, searches were carried out in May 2021 at the premises of the Agglomeration of the Compiègne region and at the home of Mr. Marini.
