Fall Guy’s director David Leitch may be taking on a new challenge as talks are underway for him to direct the movie adaptation of Gears of War. Hollywood Reporter spilled the beans, mentioning that Leitch is currently in negotiations to helm and produce the film alongside Kelly McCormick and their 87North production company, teaming up with game developer, The Coalition. Not to forget, Jon Spaihts, the talented writer behind the Dune screenplay that snagged an Oscar nomination, is also on board to work his magic on the script.

Gears of War fans can rejoice as the most recent installment of the game series hit the shelves in 2019. Netflix has remained tight-lipped about this latest development, choosing not to comment yet. However, they have previously hinted that this adaptation will stay true to the “video game saga” of Gears of War, raising hopes for a faithful rendition compared to Universal’s failed attempt. The streaming giant announced its acquisition of the movie rights for Gears of War back in November 2022, after New Line Cinema’s previous efforts to bring the game to life fell flat. It’s worth noting that the 2007 version of the project, which had drifted far from the game’s universe, found itself stuck in development limbo by 2019.

The Coalition is teaming up with People Can Fly for the upcoming Gears of War game, Gears of War: E-Day. Exciting news surfaced last year that John DiMiaggio and Carlos Ferro will be reprising their roles as Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in this new installment. Rumor has it that the bidding numbers for the adaptation of EA’s beloved co-op adventure, Split Fiction, are reaching the “multiple millions” mark. While details are still scarce, fans are eagerly anticipating how this adaptation will unfold on the big screen.
