A surprising update has been discovered in the mobile version of Stardew Valley after the release of the highly anticipated 1.6 update. In addition to the documented new features, developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has included a secret experimental multiplayer mode for mobile players to enjoy.

The existence of this hidden multiplayer mode was confirmed by Barone himself in a social media post. To unlock this feature, players must first install the 1.6 update and then input the legendary Konami code. This code involves tapping on specific leaves in a certain order on the title screen logo. Once entered correctly, a hidden co-op session button will be revealed on the main menu.

Players can then choose to either join an existing multiplayer game or host a new one. Hosts will need to set up a farm, while those joining will require the host’s IP address. All participants must be on the same network or connect to a player who is port-forwarding their game. Although the multiplayer mode may have some connectivity issues, Barone recommends using high-end devices on the same local network for the best experience.

The 1.6 update for Stardew Valley on mobile and consoles introduces a variety of new features, including the ability to consume mayonnaise, new farm types, festivals, crafting items, dialogue, and hats for pets. This update aligns with the recent 1.6.9 patch for PC, showcasing Barone’s dedication to continuously improving the game.

Despite the success of Stardew Valley, Barone has not made progress on his next game, Haunted Chocolatier, due to his focus on enhancing the current game. With the addition of the secret multiplayer mode, players can now enjoy a new way to experience Stardew Valley on their mobile devices.
